A white mineral basecoat render for modern masonry including dense blocks and modern brickwork. Forte Render Base Coat is suitable as a scratch coat to give any wall a level and consistent background before a compatible finish coat is applied. Great for eco-friendly new builds, this undercoat render offers superior levels of breathability - water can evaporate easily and does not remain trapped.
Forte Render Base Coat is applied as a standard undercoat render either by hand or machine and finished with Lime Green Tradirend self-coloured render.

Packaging
Available in 25 kg paper sacks, with a shelf life of 6 to 8 months. Store in a cool, dry place.
Coverage
Approximately 1.7 kg per mm of thickness over 1m². One 25 kg bag will cover approximately 1m² at
15 mm thickness. This does not include any allowance for wastage.
Surface Preparation
The background must be level, well keyed and dampened to control suction. Forte Render Base Coat is only for application to
porous backgrounds such as masonry – do not apply over old paints or similar substances. Ensure the
background is free from dust, oil or contaminants. If necessary, clean down with dilute brick acid or
fungicide before rendering. Tape up and protect windows and joinery.
How to Mix
One 25 kg sack of Forte Render Base Coat will need approximately 4 litres of clean water. Mix for between 3 and 10 minutes using
a drum mixer or drill and whisk. Do not re-work. Working time is between 1 and 2 hours.
Application
Dampen the background to prevent rapid water loss from the undercoat render. Do not use in temperatures
below 5°C or above 30°C and do not apply in direct sunlight.
Do not overwork or polish Forte Render Base Coat. Typically apply in coats of around 10 mm. For a thickness greater
than 15 mm apply in 2 coats. Key the render before each further coat is applied
